1863/71: Napoleon lauré 5 fr. grey-blue, an average example with nicks and folds used with 1870 Siège 40 c. orange and 1871/75 Cérès 30 c. brown on heavy linen envelope of the 19th weight rate to Leith Scotland, each tied by light '1065' gros chiffre of Cognac with "COGNAC 24 DEC 75" cds and PD in Oval in red alongside, reverse with French TPO and Edinburg transit cds's (Dec 26). A tatty cover due to its heavy weight but an interesting very late use of the bilateral French-British postal treaty asking for a payment of 30 c . for 10 gr., as France did not join earlier than January 1st, 1876.
