Lot# 137 - Auction 222-226

  • Lot# : 137 France

1852: Présidence 10 c. bistre (2, both cut at left ) and 25 c. blue with fair to large margins all round (shaved at right top), all with fresh colour and tied by 'Gros points' obliterator to cover from Paris to Geneva with "PARIS 10 OCT. 53" cds and framed PD in red alongside, reverse with Geneva arrival cds in blue (Oct 11). In spite of the def. stamp and a hor. fold in the cover away from the stamps, an exceedingly rare franking overpaying the rate to Switzerland by 5 c. Maury = € 5'000, for a correct franking to Prussia.
