    1849: Cérès 40 c. orange, fresh horizontal pair with overall fair to large margins with parts of two neighboring stamps, shaved at top left, tied by 'grille sans fin' obliterator to cover with "PARIS (K) 20 AOUT 52" cds in black and framed PD in red alongside, sent to London with "LIGNE-DE-CALAIS No 2 20 AOUT 52" cds on reverse and arrival  London tombstone datestamp in red (Aug 21) on obverse. An appealing example of the single rate to the United Kingdom. Maury = € 1'850.
