    1849/50: Cérès 1 fr. carmine (2 examples), 25 c. blue horizontal pair and 10 c. bistre, margins generally clear all round, used on 1852 double rate cover to New York endored 'per Africa' (Cunard Steamer), tied by "DS2" dotted lozenge in black and by Paris cds (June 17). Framed PD at right and circular '5' (cents) American credit marking in black on front. Reverse with 'Greene & Co. / Paris' company cachet in blue. A scarce and most attractive three colour first issue franking. Signed Calves.
