    1870/71: Bordeaux 10 c. bistre foncé, report II and 20 c. blue, type III, both fresh and fine with fair to large margins, tied by crisp '3581' gros chiffre to folded letter to Basel with "St. ÉTIENNE 17 MAI 71" cds and framed PD in black alongside, reverse with Geneva transit and Basel arrival cds's (May 19). An attractive cover, sent to Johann Rudolf Geigy (1830-1917), owner of the Geigy chemical company in Basel and Swiss politician.
