    1 d. green used on 1872 opened for display cover to Genova, Italy tied by large part oval PACIFIC STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY / STEAM SHIP / ETEN handstamp (as Lamy & Rinck fig. 104), thence via French Ship with rare octagonal cachet d'escale ARICA / PAQ. FR. F. No. 2 datestamp (Oct 20) struck in black (Salles fig. 1586b/2 addendum) and carried on the 'Ville De Brest' to Colon. Trans-shipped again there and carried on the 'Martinique' of Ligne A. Struck in Paris with framed 'F*58' Franco-Italian convention marking somewhat blurred in blue. Taxed on arrival at 2 lire 80 centesimi with 1870 Postage Due 10 c. (2, slight tear on one stamp), 20 c. and 1 lire all tied by Genova datestamps (Nov 29). A rare and extraordinary cover. Cert. Moorhosue (2013).

Correpsonding sender's cachet in blue below and reverse with 'Callao' British P.O. datestamp (Dec14) and London transit cds (Jan 13, 1873) in red. Framed 'GB / 1F 90c.' Accountancy marking applied in London and charged with handstruck '15' décimes due marking on receipt. Small envelope repair at top but very rare - Herbert Moll records just 5 covers with this variety, this being the sole example to be mailed abroad. Cert. PF (1994).

    20 c. brown used on 1876 mourning cover to Paris cancelled by 'Lima / Principal' datestamp in black, with Great Britain 1867/73 3 d. rose pl. 14 in a horizontal pair and block of four (Gi. Z35), wing margins trimmed prior to application, tied by bold strikes of "C38" obliterators of the British P.O. in Callao (Jan 14). Black 'T' marking applied as the cover found to be above 7½ grams and taxed in manuscript '22' décimes to pay on arrival (Feb 20). A rare and most appealing cover.

PANAMA TRANSIT datestamp of British P.O. also on front (Nov 23) and there trans-shipped to French Paquebot with circular LIGNE A / PAQ. FR. No. 3 datestamp with fleurons (Salles fig. 1401) displaying well on reverse (Dec 2). Carried on the 'Imp. Eugenie' to Bordeaux, thence to Genoa (Dec 27) where charged with '14' handstamp (1 lire 40 centesemi) due in black. The adhesives with minor faults, with small worm hole and one crossed by file fold, but a scarce usage.

Carried on the Paquebot 'Panama' to Brodeaux and thence via Paris to Genova (Sept 25) where taxed '14' (1 lire 40 centesemi) due. Scarce usage and most attractive. Signed Miro. Cert.     ½ peso orange-yellow, the famous horizontal strip of ten, clear to large margins all round, close on first stamp but not impinging on the design, showing the complete five Transfer Types A-B-C-D-E repeated, this strip being the proving multiple for the arrangement of the cliches ob the lithographic Stone, the composition of the sheet being sixteen 'bloc report' of 5 positions. Some vertical creases not apparent on face and of no significance on such a multiple which is individually cancelled by dotted oval 'Lima' handstamps in black. Together with the vertical block of ten this is the largest multiple of the ½ peso and of impeccable provenance. A major rarity of Peruvian and South American classic philately.

    1 dinero deep blue, two horizontal pairs from Third Setting, touched to large margins, used on 1860 entire letter sent registered from Pasco to Lima. The stamps tied by dotted PASCO handstamps in black with one stamp showing missing background lines across 'Un Dinero' at base, with superlative strike of PASCO / CERTIFICACION / FRANCA in black above (Lamy & Rinck fig. 55). Full manuscript docketing of receipt on reverse (February 27). A marvellous and appealing entire and an extremely early registered stamped cover. Cert. Moorhouse (2007).

    ½ peso orange-yellow, the vertical strip of five, Transfer Type A, with extra ink spot outside the SE corner frame line, used on large part of Judicial cover to Hualgayoc, just shaved on first stamp at upper left otherwise with large even margins all round and neatly cancelled by manuscript crosses and by two strikes of TRUJILLO handstamp of despatch in black. Reverse with docketing of sender and two 'Chachapoyas' arrival datestamps (June 18) and pre-philatelic transit handstamp MOYOB.A in black.     1 d. green, the extraordinary 1869 Judicial cover from Cajatambo to Huaraz bearing a single example, two pairs, two strips of four and a strip of thirteen, for a rate of 26 dinero, or as annotated on the front of the cover, '$ 2. 60cts' with the weight noted in manuscript at 16 ounces. Some defects at the edges of the strips with the thirteenth stamp truncated at corner, the second stamp in this strip being a Coil Join example, with all stamps being cancelled by twenty strikes of the dotted CAJATAMBO handstamp in black. Reverse with full docketing of sender and date 'Junio 16 de 1869' and signature of receipt. Rare and exceptional franking.

    ½ peso rose red, Error of Colour, Transfer Types B-C, the extraordinary horizontal pair with large margin at top and cut close on the other sides, cancelled by framed ANDAHUAYLAS handstamp in red. The pair with tiny scissor cut in margin at top andminor bend between the pair,  part manuscript on left hand stamp only, is of enormous rarity, besides the famous Ferrari and Weinberger blocks, this is the only multiple of this stamp in existence.     Note: From 1 January 1866 the tariff on correspondence by rail between Lima, Callao and Chorillos was reduced to 5 centavos. As there were no stamps of this value, bisection of the current stamps was allowed. Bisecting stopped on 5 June 1866.

    1858: 1 d. blue, the used block of nine, Transfer Types 11-12-13 / 6-17-18 / 1-2-3, showing Transfer Type 6 in position 16 on the Report (position 16 was damaged and replaced randomly by other clichés), cancelled by four complete strikes of the TRUJILLO straight line handstamp.     1 dinero blue, the magnificent block of eighteen stamps in horizontal format, with large even margins all round. Two stamps with closed tears and a minute corner crease at the edge of the block, these being of no significance compared to the philatelic importance of this multiple. The block is cancelled by five complete strikes of the straight line OTUSCO handstamp in red and is of spectacular appearance, being the largest known multiple of this stamp. A wonderful item for the connoisseur.
