    5 c. pale red, a used pair joined by hinge, each stamp cancelled by CALLAO datestamp dated 30-SET-1870 in black. Scarce and appealing early usage.

    Note: All catalogues, Scott, Stanley Gibbons, Michel and Yvert perpetually get the date of issue of the 'Trencito' wrong. It was believed by Julio Lugon to have been issued in April 1870, possibly on April 13, certainly the stamps were printed in that month and year. Covers have been verified and certified by acknowledged experts in the field as used in 1870 for some time.
