    Small piece bearing fine 5 c. slate-violet blue and 10 c. orange-red, each from the First Stones with large margins all round, tied by bold framed RECIBIDA EN LA ADMINISTRACIÓN P. DE MEDELLÍN EL 14 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1859 datestamp in blue, just two weeks from the date of issue. Illustrated in Colombia Philatelic Handbook on page 4. A charming and rare piece demonstrating a very early usage.

    First Printing Group ½ real bright ultramarine on greyish wove paper with slight surface blueing, fine impression, position 22 with gash just below NW corner square, used on 1865 cover to Quito, tied by GUAYAQUIL / 18 ENE 65 datestamp in black with repeated strike alongside (both datestamps show the month inverted). A superb and rare cover used in the third week of issue, the earliest recorded usage of the Medio Real with the adhesive cancelled by a circular datestamp.

    2½ c. black, the famous horizontal used strip of three, with large even margins all round, tied to small piece by two near complete strikes of oval BOGOTÁ handstamp in black. Note the central stamp shows the broken "S" variety in "Nacionales". There are no mint multiples of this stamp and this represents the second largest recorded multiple. A rarity.

    60 reis black, Early Impression in a deep shade with large margins all round, used on March 1844 entire letter from St. Joao del Rei, Minas Geras to Rio de Janeiro, tied by large straight line S. JOAO . DEL REI handstamp in brown (Ayres 1170). The cancellation ink somewhat tropicalised into the adhesive and some repairs to strengthen the entire. An attractive and very rare cover.

    Second Printing Group 1 real orange-yellow, horizontal strip of seven, positions 57-63, used on 1867 cover front and part back to Guaranda, cancelled by three strikes of the 64 dot lozenge and by "Latacunga" circular datestamp (July 18) at left. The strip with four contemporary scissor cuts between stamps at top with close to large margins all round and with part of adjoining stamps at top. Manuscript "14 oz." rate in blue crayon on front panel. An exceptional and most attractive franking.

    60 reis grey-black, Intermediate Impression, a superb four margined example applied to the obverse of September 1844 entire letter from Piracatu to Rio de Janeiro, Tixeira correspondence, tied by bold strike of straight line PIRACATU handstamp in brown (Ayres 1163). One of the most beautiful of all Bulls Eye covers bearing an extremely rare cancellation. A gem.

Some minor thins at top and light vertical bend but a fine and scarce pair.

Some peripheral ageing and ironed vertical bend on right hand stamp but an attractive multiple.

    1920 (March 6): Third Flight, cover from Cartagena to Barranquilla bearing 10 c. green used on Cartagena Oil Refining Co. envelope, cancelled by "CCNA / Cartagena" oval cachet in violet with postage 3 c. lake-brown at right tied by bold "Correo Aereo / Cartagena-Colombia" datestamp (March 6) in violet. Reverse with Barranquilla arrival datestamp, again in violet. Tiny inclusion at base of cover, otherwise exceptional and rare commercial usage, the 10 c. green being used on First Day of Issue.

    1 peso carmine, the superb mint block of 20 being the lower two horizontal rows of the sheet of 100 subjects, positions 81-90/91-100; minor bend of no importance between fifth and sixth stamps, large margins on all sides (and thus proving this value was not printed in sheets of 55) and of excellent rich bright colour, large part original gum. Rare and delightful multiple in an excellent state of preservation.

    1791 (Aug 5): Entire letter from Honda to Popayan, distance 147 leagues / 819 kms., with superb strike of the extremely rare contracted HONDA handstamp (Tizon 1 = EXT) and, below, DEVE (Tizon 3 = EXT) both in red. Unusually docketed as received on the 30th of the month (a journey time of 25 days). Rated "3" reales in manuscript for a double letter up to ¾ ounce. A marvellous and extremely rare entire. Unique.

    4 reales brown-red on greenish paper, a deep shade and the paper evidently tinted, an exceptional marginal pair, positions 38-39 with vertical marginal frameline at right, used on 1868 entire letter to Chavez in Lima, Peru paying the quadruple rate and tied by "Guayaquil" datestamp (June 10) in black. Manuscript "2" reales to pay on arrival with Lima datestamp (June 19) on reverse of an exceptional entire. Rare and possibly unique.

    Free Franking for Kemmerer Commission 1923 (July 26): Cover endorsed "Hidroplane" without Scadta franking, struck on reverse with "Republica de Colombia / Mision De Consejeros Financieros / Ley 60 de 1922" bearing Colombia 1923 3 c. blue tied in violet at Bogotá and also struck with POR HIDROAVION and mailed to USA. Scarce and most unusual cover.
    Note: Law 60 of 1922 stated that a commission of economic consultants, under Professor Kemmerer of Princeton University, was established in Bogotá in order to organise the Central Bank. The members of the Commission enjoyed a free franking privelege from Scadta.

    1 r. green, fine impression on thin wove paper, the magnificent mint block of four, positions 4-5/13-14 on the sheet of 90 subjects, position 4 showing the variety "Double frame lines at base", one or two minor gum bends and trivial ageing, fresh and of great rarity, large part original gum. Without doubt the finest mint block of four of this stamp in existence.

    2½ c. ochre-yellow, the famous irregular mint block of 19 stamps from the left side of the sheet, positions 1-4/12-15/23-25/34-37/45-48, with large margins all round and position 26 excised, position 25 with some rubbing of the colour otherwise an immaculate and rare multiple-the second largest known block-twinned on album page with a vertical block of eight seemingly from the same sheet and shade, marginal from base of sheet being positions 16-17/27-28/38-39/49-50. Usual minor bends of no importance, a tremendous pair of multiples showing nearly half of the complete sheet.

    Scadta 10 c. slate green and 20 c. red-brown used on 1923 registered cover front from Medellin to Bogotá; with handstamped "R" in violet on pair of Scadta 10 c. slate green (Type 1 overprint) - one stamp with handstamped "R" inverted - and 1920 Colombia 3 c. green all cancelled by SCADTA Medellin datestamps in red (April 23).     1810 (March 17): Prepaid entire letter from Pamplona to Ocaña, distance 65 leagues / 360 kms., endorsed "f.ca" at lower left, struck with superb framed PAMPLONA / YNDIAS / FRANCA handstamp in pale red (Tizon 4 = EXT) and wonderrful patriotic "Crown / Viva Fernando VII" handstamp at top (Tizon 2 = EXT).     4 reales red, a fine example from position 1 on the sheet with marginal frameline at left, used on refolded cover front to Ambato endorsed "13½ oz." and additionally franked by 1870/72 1 real ochre yellow (3 examples, the first being posititon 4 with doubled frame line at base), all cancelled by "Guaranda" datestamps (July 9, 1868). Guaranda continued to use the '68' datestamp for many years and the cover was probably mailed in 1871. A scarce and interesting item.

    90 reis black, Early Impression on yellowish paper from the First Composite plate, State C after retouching, the astonishing used block of 17, the complete pane less the lower right stamp (position 18), all cancelled by manuscript ink in red-brown, defective at left and sympathetically restored, the faults being of negligible importance as this multiple represents the largest known unit of the first plate.     30 reis grey-black, late Intermediate Impression, the famous used example cancelled by part manuscript date ('18' at upper right) and glorious strike of VILLA DE LORENA handstamp in bright yellow-green (Ayres 1578). Minor fault in margin at right of part manuscript date '18' , otherwise very fine with large margins all round and a wonderful stamp - truly the 'non-pareil' of Brazilian classic cancellations. Cert.     1843 (July 31 and August 1): The matching pair of entire letters from the Gonsalves Pereira correspondence to Rio de Janeiro, the earlier cover used the day before the Bulls Eyes were issued from Santos with clear despatch datestamp and rated '40' reis to pay, the second cover mailed on the day of issue of the Bulls Eyes with Santos cds in black for August 1, 1843 again without adhesive as Santos only recieved it's first shipment of the new issue in October. A fine and rare pair.

An outstanding strike of this marking, the cover dated from the original content retained by the former owner, and unique.
