Santa Fé de Bogotá-La Plata-Popayan-Quito Route 1771 (Jan 16): Entire letter from Bogotá to Popayan, distance 123 leagues / 685 kms., struck with superb imprression of contracted SANTA FE handstamp in red (Tizon 1 = EXT), with manuscript "2" reales alongside for a single letter under ½ ounce. Exceptional and extremely rare cover - the earliest Colombian handstamp on a letter and unique.
