DDSG / DSNC 1844 (July 17): Prepaid entire letter from Varna to Constantinople mailed at the DDSG office prior to it's closing in 1845 and its transfer to the Austrian Lloyd; struck with circular wreathed handstamp "P.P. / VARNA" in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 932). The finest of the two known strikes both from the same correspondence, this handstamp omitted by Ringström & Tester as the cancellation omits the "DDSG" (found on examples from Constantinople, Galatz and Ibraila), the handstamp erroneously shown in Tchilinghirian on page 524 but properly recorded by Edwin Müller (#2151a) who would have recorded this cover in Franz See's collection.
