½ peso rose red, ERROR OF COLOUR, the famous vertical pair with ½ peso at top (Transfer Type B with coloured dot under 'Correos' outside lower frame line) in pair with 1 peseta, Type 1, from two seperate 'bloc report' Transfers. The pair with huge margins on all sides cancelled by 'Admon. Pral De Correos / Tacna' circular datestamp (18 June 1858) in black. Upper stamp with minor thin but a remarkable and extremely rare pair: the Percy Bargholtz census, this being fig. Cb2, records just five pairs, two of which are in the Tapling collection in the British Museum, the other two being sold by Corinphila in the Klaus Eitner collection in 2009. An extraordinary and rare multiple which has graced many of the most famous collections. Signed Holcombe. Cert. Moorhouse (2013).

1 d. blue-green, diagonally bisected on 1869 cover from Lima to Callao well tied by COMPANIA DE LOS FERROCARRILES DE LIMA datestamp (Lamy & Rinck fig. 100) in black (June 15). Just ten covers bearing the 1 dinero green bisect are recorded, with just four recorded with the Railway Company cancellation. A very rare and fine cover. Signed Holcombe. Cert. Moorhouse (2013)

Note: Whilst there was perhaps no shortage of the 1 dinero green at this date, it is probable that the rate reduction to 5 centavos for the Railway route from Lima to Callao was adopted by the Railway Company who cancelled this cover without the Post Office's knowledge. Illustrated in 'El Servicio Postal y Filatelico en el Peru' by Carlos N. Gonzales on page 172. Ex Eitner, Corinphila sale 158, June 2009 (lot 4193).

½ peso orange-yellow, the famous horizontal used strip of ten, with clear to large margins all round, close on first stamp but not actually touched into design, showing the complete five Transfer Types A-B-C-D-E repeated, this strip being the proving multiple for the arrangement of the five cliches on the lithographic Stone, the composition of the sheet being 16 'bloc report' of 5 positions. Some vertical creases and thins not apparent on face and of negligible importance on such a rare multiple.
