Lot# 5051 - 186-190 Auction

  • Lot# : 5051 Peru

    1 / 1
½ peso orange-yellow, the famous horizontal used strip of ten, with clear to large margins all round, close on first stamp but not actually touched into design, showing the complete five Transfer Types A-B-C-D-E repeated, this strip being the proving multiple for the arrangement of the five cliches on the lithographic Stone, the composition of the sheet being 16 'bloc report' of 5 positions. Some vertical creases and thins not apparent on face and of negligible importance on such a rare multiple. Other than a vertical block of ten, this is the largest multiple of the ½ peso and of impeccable philatelic provenance. A major rarity of both Peruvian and South American philately. Cert. Moorhouse (2013).

Provenance: Hall, Burrus, Schatzkes, Hubbard (June 2008), lot 279.
