    1876: Triple rate large-sized registered value cover with an insured value of 9'950 francs, sent from Loudun to St. Maixant, bearing a mass franking of Sage 75 rose carmine type I, a vertical strip of five and nine singe examples (two torn) together with single 5 c. green type II and 15 c. blue type II, tied by crisp despatch (Jan 11, 85) cds superb ingormation strike and CHARGÉ in red alongside. Reverse with timbre indicatif de chargement giving a weight of 38 gram, ambulant and arrival (Jan 13) cds's. In spite of its limitations a stunning franking paying correctly 45 c. for a cover with a weight between 30 and 50 gram plus 25 c. fixed fee and 100 times 10 c. for the insurance.

Obverse was struck by "DOPO LA PARTENZA" handstamp in red and oval "BOLLO INSUFFICIENTE" handstamp in violet. Reverse with "ALLEMAGNE EST" railway transit and BRUXELLES arrival cds (July 29). The letter was partially paid until the border of the GAPU, therefore taxed with '3' (décimes) for the second Belgian rayon following the postal treaty of January 1852.

Upon arrival arrival in Chiaromonte in the Basilicata, an arrival cds was struck to the reverse (Jan 26) but the receiver was not found and the entire returned to Napoli. The receiver's address was specified by adding 'di Sicilia', the cover was again despatched from Napoli (Jan 31), it passed Messina (Feb 2) where an additional oval FRANCA was struck to the obverse. Part of address torn out but skillfully replaced, nevertheless a most interesting piece of postal history, correctly franked with 15 grana for French shipmail transport until the port of disembarkation following the Franco-Bourbon postal treaty of 1854.
