1868: Napoléon laureated 20 c. milky-blue Type II, the imperforated variety called 'Lebaudy', a fine and fresh example with good to large margins, tied by clear Gros Chiffres '1769' numeral lozenge to entire letter written by a corn dealer in Liverpool. Despatched by the forwarder "Quesnel Frères" in Le Havre with corresponding light despatch cds (Aug. 17, 1870) alongside. Extremely rare, the usage of a 'Lebaudy' imperforated definitive on a letter originating in the United Kingdom is presumed unique. Certs. Brun (1978), Calves (1994) Yvert = € 27'500 / Maury 29/IIg = € 26'000.rnNote: A small number of imperforated Napoléon lauré 20 c. in a milky blue shade were given by the postal administration to the Post Offices in the Department Nord and also to Nancy. Most of them served on a correspondence between the trading houses Bobillon in Douai and Lebaudy in Paris, respectively Valenciennes, thereby the name to this variety. 1872: Entire letter from Remiremont to Pontarlier, forwarded to Couvet in Switzerland, bearing Cérès 1872 25 c. blue type I, tied by Gros Chiffres '3106' numeral lozenge with "REMIREMONT 17 AVRIL 74" cds alongside. Upon arrival the receiver was not found in Pontarlier and the letter was forwarded to neighbouring Couvet on the other side of the French-Swiss border. An additional 1872 5 c. green was added and tied with Gros Chiffre '2964' numeral lozenge of Pontarlier, a framed PD in red was struck alongside.
