Obverse struck with light "CIVITAVECCHIA / DALLA VIA DI MARE" handstamp in black. Reverse with Napoli despatch (Oct 6, 1860) in red, also Civitavecchia transit and ROMA arrival (Oct 8) cds's. Correctly paid double letter rate of 10 gr. for 2 sheets to the Papal border, while the receiver had to pay only the single letter rate of '8' bajocchi upon arrival. 'carminio rosa', both from plate II, two fresh and fine adhesives, large to huge margined, cancelled by clear ANNULLATO 'a svolazzo' strikes with "REGGIO 4 OTT. 1860" despatch cds showing inverted month slug in red alongside, on entire letter via Messina to Malta. Reverse with Napoli transit (Oct 12) cds in red and MALTA arrival (Oct 17) cds in black. Part of address torn out but skillfully replaced, nevertheless a most interesting piece of postal history, correctly franked with 15 grana for French shipmail transport until the port of disembarkation following the Franco-Bourbon postal treaty of 1854.     Adhesives of Sardinia used in the former Ducato di Parma, 1859 (Aug 17): Entire letter from Borgotaro to Piacenza, bearing Sardinia IV. emission 20 c. dark blue, a fine and fresh adhesive with good to large margins all round, cancelled by BORGOTARA cds, reverse with arrival cds of the same day. An extremely rare usage of a Sardinian adhesive in August 1859 during the first period of the provisional government of the former Ducato di Parma. Following the certificate of Dott. Colla this is the only postally sent item from Borgotaro from this period. An entire of enormous historical interest, certs. A. Diena (1969), E. Diena (1985), Colla (2021) Sassone unlisted for Borgotaro, comparable usages of a 20 c. definitive in other cities are valued between € 30'000 and € 160'000.

    1848 (July 13): Entire letter from Camerino to Tolentino, the interior with a most decorative handpainted letterhead during the period of the Repubblica Romana. The letterhead shows an obviously famous but unidentified person to whom a boot is to be put on by a military, while other people try to prevent this, also one person in a rowboat with an Italian tricolore. Aside this sketch is written: "chi la dura la vince / chi perde va a gambe in aria". A funny item.

This letter had already made the same journey on February 7, franked with a 2 baj. 'bianco verdastro' which is now hidden below the multiple and from Viterbo back on February 8 with  the same franking (Sassone 3Aa) on the inner side of the letter.
