    1608/09: Venetian "AQ" letter-sheets with the Lion of St. Mark emblem between, the World's First Postal Stationery (pre-dating the 'Cavallino's and the Mulready by over two hundred years), small group of five items with a mint example and four used-all in the first two years of issue, one being dated February 1608. The "AQ" standing for "Acque" was printed at the top of each sheet along with the 1608 statute under which the system operated, with a further surcharge of 4 soldi for posting each letter. This system remained in operation until 1797 and early first year usages can be considered as rarities.

Imperceptible dent in the paper on reverse and barest trace of paper loss in margin mentioned for technical accuracy only and of no significance, this being a stamp of both great rarity and beauty. This describer has recorded just three examples of the 15 centesemi with Andrew's Cross used in Milan (two single examples and a vertical pair) of which this is undoubtedly the finest.
