    Yanaoun 1862 (Sept 15): Entire letter from YANAOUN, French India, a small French settlement without a Post Office, mailed to Bordeaux, passed to the British Post Office at "INGERAM" with double arc cds in black (Sept 18) on reverse and curved INDIA UNPAID applied. Accountancy marking "GB / 1F 62 4/10" in blue (Salles fig. 3049) and framed INDIA UNPAID struck in Bombay, thence by P&O steamer "Malta" to Suez and "Talazac" from Alexandria to Marseille (Oct 19) and charged by handstruck '9' décimes due. Somewhat aged but a rare entire.

    1900: 25c. rose and blue on cover from 'Djibouti' addressed to Emperor Menelik II personally in 'Addis Abbeba'. On the reverse are two transit marks HARAR (7-8-19) and ENTOTTO (20-8-19). According to 'Payne' (Cockerill Series Booklet 17), the year slug '00' for 1900 was not available, hence '19' was used (as the next best thing). The stamp on this very fresh letter is stuck down over the edge. Nonetheless a most desirable letter of the period to a prominent recipient.

The Austrian debited the Greek postal administration "3 / 15" soldi in manuscript, for the local Trieste rate and the Lloyd' shipmail, respectively, the resulting 55 lepta plus the 20 lepta inland rate were charged to the receiver.
