    1597: Pope Clement VIII (1536 – 1605), official parchment (320 x 240 mm) dated Ferrara 1597, in the fifth year of his pontificate, with attached lead seal showing: ".CLE/MENS/VIII" and "S.S.P.P' (Holy Peter and Paul) on reverse. After death of Duke of Ferrara Alfonso II d'Este (1533–1597) the possesions returned to the Holy See. Early parchement with some minor worm holes.rnPope Clement VIII, born Ippolito Aldobrandini 1536-1605, was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 1592 to his death 5 March 1605.rn
