    1864/1865: Entire letters (3) all addressed from Shanghai to Bienne, Switzerland and all endorsed 'per Str. Cadiz'; the first with 1863 4 c. grey with four examples and possibly two further stamps lost in transit at right, tied by 'B62' obliterator in blue, the cover marked 'Insuff.' in manuscript and struck with Anglo-French accountancy marking 'GB / 1F 22 4/10c.' in blue at Hong Kong (Van Der Linden fig. 1589), backstamped SHANGHAE cds in blue (Nov 24, 1864) and Hong Kong in blue and with fine 'Macon Au Mont-Cenis' cds, charged '20' rappen on arrival (Jan 12). Second entire with 1862 18 c. lilac and 24 c. green and a stamp removed tied by blue 'B62', with Shanghae cds (Jan 8, 1865), Hong Kong cds in blue (Jan 13) and Bienne arrival (Feb 28). Third entire with 1862 vertical pair of 12 c. greenish blue cancelled by 'B62' in blue with reverse showing Shanghae cds (Feb 8, 1865) in blue, Hong Kong cds and Bienne arrival (March 28). Despite faults a most interesting group.

    1904: Registered Value Declared (£ 12) triple rate cover from ADEN to Yokohama, Japan franked by 1900 2 a. mauve, 1902 1 a. carmine and extremely rare usage of 1892 1 r. green & aniline carmine (2) cancelled by 'B' in bars obliterators with 'Valeur Déclarée' label alongside and circular 'R' in black. Reverse with Aden cds (May 26), Hong Kong cds (June 28), and Yokohama arrival cds in violet (July 16). An extraordinary usage from Aden: Postage of 3 ounces = 15 a., + registration = 2 a., Insurance = 18 a. (at 1½ a. for each £ 1 insured) = 35 annas / 2 rupees 3 annas correct rate.

    Missent 1894: Mozambique 30 r. green on buff stationery card cancelled by oval 'Lourenco Marques' datestamp (May 26) addressed to Baden-Baden, Germany. The card arrived at Aden on June 18, was mis-sorted and carried by the 'Oriental' to Bombay with cds (June 23). SEA POST OFFICE / A datestamp (June 29) applied in Bombay and returned via 'Ganges' and struck with MISSENT IN / INDIAN MAIL (Type 3) in black. Baden-Baden arrival cds (July 17). An attractive and scarce usage with the inverted 'M' error in the handstamp; illustrated in the handbook on page 126.

Struck with MISSENT IN / INDIAN MAIL in black (Type 2) and returned via 'Hyaspes' to Aden for onward transmission, with Melbourne and Geelong datestamps (Sept 10).     Registration Type 4. 1904/06: The collection of six covers, all with framed SEA P. O. (ABC) SET handstamps in violet, these examples being particularly well struck for this marking, with SET A used from GB to Bengal on reg'd cover (14 Feb, 1904) and another from GB to Karachi on reg'd cover (23 July, 1905), SET B on cover to India (Sept 19, 1904), and another from GB to India (21 May, 1905), SET C used from Egypt to Persia (17 Jan, 1904) and GB to India with date missing (should be 12 Feb, 1906). A fine group, four are illustrated in the handbook on pages 137 and 138.

    Note: It should be pointed out that Registration Type 4 and Type 5 handstamps were made of rubber. Due to this, the cancellations are never found superbly struck.
