    5 c. ochre buff and 10 c. greenish blue, fine examples used on 1861 cover from Bogotá to Castellanos & Ca. in Ambalema, cancelled by fine strike of "BOGOTÁ" pearled handstamped in black. A rare and impressive franking during the four month period under 'Mosquera' rates. Cert. Moorhouse (2012).
    Note: On August 28, 1861 Tomas Cipriano de Mosquera altered the existing postal rates by memorandum. He ordered that the internal Colombian postal rates of April 1846 be re-introduced, namely 10 centavos for an inter-state letter and 15 centavos from one state to another. Only four letters are known sent during the four month period between August and December 1861, a new organisation being implemented on January 1, 1862.

    Surcharged VALOR 10 CENTAVOS on 50 c. pale green (Type b) handstamped diagonally in blue reading down to right, a fine used example on flown 1921 cover from Neiva to Girardot, cancelled by oval SOCIEDAD COLOMBO ALEMANA / CORREOS AEREOS / GIRARDOT on arrival and by NAVEGACION AEREA / NEIVA in violet with further fine strikes on reverse, used with 1917 1 c. green and single 2 c. carmine-red tied by Bogota arrival (Nov 16) in red. A rare and fine cover.
    Note: The start of the scheduled SCADTA service, September 19, 1921; a flight from Girardot to Neiva was installed at a surcharge of 10 centavos for a single letter. The journey overland, of just 150 kms, took four days on horseback.

    10 c. blue on bluish wove paper, the extraordinary block of 53 stamps, being the entire sheet less the upper row of seven stamps, including the stamps placed sideways, alternating columns with Types I and II (with stop after '10' - 27 examples) and Type III (without stop after '10). The sheet with 3 mm margin at right and 9 mm margin at base, with a few insignificant creases and a minor scissor cut of no importance at base, of vivid fresh colour and large part original gum with some stamps unmounted. The largest recorded multiple of the 1863 issue and one of the major pieces of all South American philately.

    10 c. green imperforate, fine example in a bright shade on 1920 flown cover from Cartagena to Barranquilla tied by oval "CCNA - Cartagena" cachet in violet, additionally franked by 1917 ½ c. yellow bistre pair and defective numeral 2 c. rose tied by circular "Correo Aereo / Cartagena-Colombia" datestamps (April 17, 1920) in black. Reverse with Barranquilla datestamp in violet. A few imperfections but a rare cover - the only known letter from this April 17, 1920 Flight.
    Note: The pilot of the "Cartagena" Farman Aeroplane on this flight was Mr. Jourdanet. He was to die in a crash in this plane 12 days later (April 29).

    1920 (Feb 22): The famous reverse of large cover with five multicoloured 10 c. vignettes, "Woman & Boy watching plane", two examples of "Tilted plane" and two examples of "Fuselage & Tail of Biplane", two vignettes with imperfections caused on opening the package, all cancelled by oval "CCNA / Cartagena" cachets in violet and by Barranquilla circular datestamps (Feb 23). An extraordinary commercial franking from the back of a large package (five times the normal rate). Exceptional and the largest recorded franking of the 'Curtiss' vignettes. Signed Calves.

    Santa Fé de Bogotá-Cartago-Quibdó Route 1809 (Jan 24): Prepaid entire letter from Bebará to Camilo Torres in Santa Fé de Bogotá, distance of 180 leagues / 1'000 kms., with Type I BEBARA and sloping FRANCA handstamps (without inverted "N") each well struck in black (Tizon 1 and 3 = RRR). Extremely rare, Bebará is 160 kms. north of Quibdó and can only be reached by boat on the Atrato and Bebará rivers. A famous cover, there are believed to be just three covers recorded from Bebará, all are in the Goeggel collection.

    5 c. yellow, the famous Laarsen reconstructed sheet of 54 stamps (9x6), with two blocks of 24 stamps being the largest known multiples of any value of the New Granada issue, a vertical strip of four (positions 19/28/37/46) and a vertical pair (position 41/50), most stamps with large margins all round and with full sheet margin surround, whilst there are faults and some creasing, most are of excellent colour and freshness. Of tremendous importance to the specialist and one of the highlights of Colombian Classic Philately.

One of the earliest covers known bearing a Colombia adhesive, five being recorded used in the first month, this being the earliest usage of the 20 centavos adhesive. Rated "4" reales unpaid in manuscript for a double letter up to ¾ ounce. Contents refer to the despatch on 6 mules and 16 pesos in cash. A fine and rare early entire that pre-dates the Tizon listing.

    Free Franking for Kemmerer Commission 1923 (July 23): Cover endorsed "Hidroplane" without Scadta franking, struck on reverse with "Republica de Colombia / Mision De Consejeros Financieros / Ley 60 de 1922" bearing Colombia 1923 3 c. blue tied in violet at Bogotá, with Barranquilla transit and mailed to USA. Scarce and most unusual cover.
    Note: Law 60 of 1922 stated that a commission of economic consultants, under Professor Kemmerer of Princeton University, was established in Bogotá in order to organise the Central Bank. The members of the Commission enjoyed a free franking privelege from Scadta.

    Cartago-Cali-Popayan Route 1774 (Aug 27): Extraordinarily early prepaid entire letter, restored, mailed from Llanogrande (now Palmira) to a Mr. Luis Soler in Popayan, a distance of 40 leagues / 223 kms.; struck with over-inked contracted LLANOGRANDE handstamp with FRANCA alongside (Tizon 1 and 3 = RRR). Despite faults, a rarity, being the earliest recorded entire with these markings and one of the earliest handstamped Colombia covers.
