'Paris' despatch cds struck in red at left (Aug 9) with London transit alongside in red (Aug 10) and from there via Liverpool on the Cunard Line Steamer 'Canada' to New York. 1861 (June 26): Outer letter sheet from Locle Switzerland, sent via the forwarder Ch. Vignier to Havre, posted there and franked with imperf. Napoleon 40 c. orange (3) and 80 c. rose (3) giving the double weight rate of 360 c. to Peru, tied by dotted numeral mark "1495" with red BUREAU MARITIME HAVRE cds's alongside, endorsed "S. Atrato" referencing to the steam service by the R.M.S.P. steamer S.S. Atrato to Chagres Panama, carried overland across the isthmus (Panama transit cds July 23) and furtheron via Pacific Steamship Company to Lima. All three 40 c. stamps touched by horizontal archive fold, some minor faults in addition but an exceedingly rare cover with a fine appearance.
