    1 franc carmine foncé, a wonderful horizontal strip of five used on 1854 cover carried at 7 times rate, side flaps removed, from Paris to Chaumont; all tied by Paris Star obliterators with 'Paris-5' despatch cds at right (Feb 26). The strip, with ample to enormous margins all round has been removed from the cover for appraisal and hinged back into place. Reverse with Chaumont arrival (Feb 27). A splendid and rare franking for the connisseur. Signed Lamy. Cert. Calves (1998).
