    British Post Office 1872: Envelope from Lagos to Manchester prepaid with "5d." in red manuscript, struck with fine "♚  / PAID AT LAGOS" in black with single ring LAGOS despatch cds (July 18) above. "Paid / Liverpool / Br. Packet" cds in red (Aug. 14) also on obverse with Manchester arrival (same day) on reverse. Flap missing and slight soiling but a rare fine strike. The LAGOS Crowned Circle handstamp was in use for less than eight month only. Cert. BPA (1960) Gi = £ 4'000.
