    British Post Office 1862: Entire letter from Jacmel to St. Thomas, prepaid '4d.' in red manuscript for the inter-island rate, struck on despatch with fair "♚ / PAID AT JACMEL" in red with reverse showing single ring JACMEL cds (Jan. 26) and double arc ST. THOMAS arrival cds (Jan. 29) in black. A good example of a rare marking Scott A1 = $ 1'100 / Gi = £ 950. Provenance: Collection 'Beaver Creek', Phillips, London, 17 Jan 1988, lot 195.
