July): Registered envelope franked with triptych I-DINI L. 50, posted in "Rome 18.6.33" to Londonderry with arrival mark on reverse (JY 2), signed on front by Capt. Stefano Trimboli, Captain of I-MARI, who carried the salvaged mail after I-DINI's accident in Amsterdam. The seaplane was damaged touching the water during landing in Amsterdam. Nov. and 25. Nov. respectively. The certificate Diena explains that the second date was that of the actual despatch on the day following the acceptance of the letter.  An exceptional mixed franking, a minor fold arose during affixing the stamp to the letter.     1862 (18. Nov.): 10c brown horizontal strip of three (wrinkles between perforations) and single, on letter from SALEMI to MALTA. The stamps are tied by two strikes of the SALEMI cds, a cachet PD in black is also applied to the front as well a 12 1/2 c credit to the Maltese post. On the reverse there are two transit marks from CATAFIMI (18. Nov.) and PALERMO (18. Nov.) and an arrival mark MALTA NO 24 62. According to the certificate Colla one of the largest recorded multiples of this shade. The foreign destination adds further interest to this unusual letter. Signed Bolaffi, E.     1866 (9. August): 2l. scarlett, together with horizontal pair 60c. mauve and 40c. rose carmine, London prints, four fresh and fine examples on letter from Palermo via Marseille to New York. The stamps are cancelled by a dotted numeral "186" of Palermo. The letter, a 4th weight rate trans-atlantic letter, was originally weighed and endorsed "3" for third weight rate, but checked in France and found to be underfranked due to the 4th weight rate being applicable. The was "3" crossed and replased by "4" and endorsed 'affr. insuff'. Upon arrival in New York a "PAID ALL" cachet was applied in error and subsequently obliterated by multiple cork cancel strikes.
