    1889: 5l. green and carmine, together with 1l. brown and yellow (3) and 45c. olive on large fragment of an insured letter from Rome to Palermo, each stamp tied by, due to the contents slightly blurry cds "ROMA". An insurance label "A/ ITALIA/ ROMA/355" is also affixed to the front. In the top left hand corner is an endorsement g588 for the weight and l. 8.45, which is the resulting postal charge. The piece has been cleaned and has a central vertical fold well clear of the franking. The letter is signed Enzo Diena and comes with a certificate "[....]originale e reca francobolli perfetti". Exceptionally rare. Certificate E.Diena (1985).
