The cover travelled by British Ship with London cds on reverse (Nov 29) in red where struck with "T / 1-10" handstamp in black and charged '80' pfennigs due upon receipt (Dec 1).     1878 (Jan 10): Indian Woman 1 p. orange on yellow, an unused group with horizontal pair (positions 31-32) and a block of six (positions 31-33 / 41-43) - these multiples each showing the major Plate Flaw on position 32: "Large "P" in Peso", together with a further corner marginal horizontal pair (position 9-10) showing a double line of vertical perforations through position 10 and 'LA' in sheet margin. Generally fine, a scarce group.

Triangular 'T' marking applied in blue (an early usage of a 'T' mark - Guatemala did not join the UPU until 1881) and struck with octagonal French "Etats Unis Paq. Fr. / Brest 2" entry marking in blue (Feb 29, leap year) and handstruck '20' décimes due marking in both red and, correctly, in blue. An extremely scarce usage.rn

    1881: 5 c. on Indian Woman ½ r. yellow-green, a used example of this scarce provisional issue used on 1881 cover to Bristol, England cancelled by bold five pointed star obliterator in blue. Octagonal Guatemala City datestamp at left (Aug 14) in red alongside and Bristol arrival cds (Sept 13). A very scarce cover - Guatemala joined the UPU on August 1, 1881 and the foreign letter rate of 5 centavos was in use for a little over two months, being raised to 10 centavos on October 8, 1881. This cover is mentioned in Goodman on page 106 - the earliest one of only three he recorded.     1881 (July): 20 c. on 2 r. carmine-rose, an unused block of four of vibrant colour, well centred for this issue, horizontal crease across lower pair that does not detract from frontal appearance, fresh and fine, a few age spots on large og. Goodman states 'even pairs are uncommon'. The largest known multiple of this stamp, there being but two known blocks of four: of which this is the finest.
