    1848: Entire letter from Gonaives to Bordeaux struck on despatch with superb negative GONAIVES / PAYÉ oval handstamp in black. British P.O. "JACMEL" double arc cds on reverse (Nov 8) and sent unpaid. London transit on reverse (Dec 4) in red and struck there with 'COLONIES / &c. ART.13' handstamp in red. Charged '20' decimes due upon delivery. Scarce and very fine entire.
