    1853: Napoleon imperf. 80 c. carmine in a tête-bêche pair, fresh copy with large margins on two sides, touched on the other sides, cancelled by neat Gros chiffre "5080" numerals of the P.O. abroad in Alexandria. Late use of this imperf. pair after the introduction of the Gros chiffre postmarks in 1863, while the perf. Napoleon definitives had already been issued. Cert. RPS (2010) Cérès 2008 = EUR 21'500 for the tête-bêche pair not taking into account the use in Egypt.

    9 Bar Obliterator & Type 2. 1873: Eastbound cover to Bombay franked by India 1865 1 a. brown, pair and a horizontal strip of four in differing shades, all cancelled with the 9 barred handstamp in black, posted on board the 'Sunda' and struck on reverse with oval SEA POST OFFICE / A datestamp (Aug 19) in black applied at Suez. No other markings on reverse, the Sunda arrived in Bombay on September 4. A few imperfections to the envelope but a rare 'on board' usage. Illustrated in the handbook on page 143.
