Ruy Governador das Armas da Provincia de Trallosmontes (Tras-os-Montes 'behind the mountains') located in the northeastern corner of the country. Transcription of complete portuguese text attached. A fine, historical document. John the Restorer, so his nickname, whose reign lasting from 1640 until his death, led to the Portuguese "restoration" of independence from Spanish rule and established the house of Braganza on the Portuguese throne.

    1858 (July 21): Bull's Heads 27 parale black on rose laid paper, an example with fair to good margins, fresh colours, cancelled by two part strikes of "BERLAD / MOLDOVA ./8" datestamp in blue (Kiriac fig. 272). Only five examples of the 27 pa. are recorded in the Heimbüchler handbooks used from Berlad with this stamp being a new find. The stamp is obviously completely backed, still an attractive example of this desirable stamp due to its excellent colour and fresh appearance. Cert. Gmach (2016) Mi = EUR 15'000.

The front shows an Austrian "P.P." which corrected the erroneously applied PD. Reverse with Austrian CONSTANTINOPEL and Constantinople Lloyd transit (March 20) as well as Syros arrival (March 15) cds's. Upon arrival, the cover was taxed with '20' lepta in blue crayon and a left marginal Large Hermes Head 20 lepta blue showing variety 'inverted 0' (Karamitsos 27 Nb) with ample to large margins was added and tied by the same datestamp.
