    Note: Port Louis was re-named Port Napoleon in 1804 and reverted to the name Port Louis after the successful conquest by the British in 1810.

Condition obviously varies but some very fine and others with thins, repairs and faults, however a most desirable and attractive page, also the reprinted Die Proofs with both values Gi = £ 20'000+.

    1859: Lapirot 2 d. blue, two examples of the Worn Impression used on 1859 cover from Port Louis to Marseille, adhesives with touched to ample margins and of rich colour, cancelled by concentric ring handstamps in black. Reverse with Crown 'Mauritius/GPO' datestamp of despatch (Oct 12) in black. Cover then travelled via Suez with Marseille entry marking (Nov 4) in red. Wrongly charged on arrival with '6' handstamp replaced by '8' décime charge marking in black. Whilst the cover is endorsed 'Gravure Intermediate' in pencil and signed, in our opinion this is an early usage of the worn impression on letter. Minor file folds but a rare and most appealing cover. Reverse with 'Mauritius' despatch cds displaying well in blue, obverse with octagonal POSS. AN / PAQ. FR. T No.1 in red (Salles fig. 2151) and the adhesives also tied by scarce INDO-CHINE / PAQ FR. MODANE datestamp (Salles fig. 1897) in red (May 23). Minor file fold at top but a fresh and fine entire.
