    Outgoing to Russia 1861 (Nov 7): Partially prepaid entire letter from Patras to Taganrog, bearing 1861 Paris print 10 l. orange on blue and 40 l. mauve on blue, this with 'Open Cross' variety, fresh colours and large to huge margins, tied by '9' numeral of Patras with matching PATRAI despatch cds in black and Greek PED (Paid to Foreign Destination) in red alongside, ATHENS transit cds on reverse. Two file folds, one through the 40 lepta adhesive, nevertheless a very early franked entire in the second month of the Greek adhesives, obverse shows '30' (kopeks) due upon receipt for the part of the journey from Constantinople. Second Olympic issue 1906 unused (some without gum) and used, later issues quite rich and varied with e.g. a picture postcard from VATHY (Samos) 1914 to Zürich, Centenary of the Liberation 1930 used and unused, Zeppelins 1933 unused etc. All housed in one album.

    Incoming from France 1867/1869:  Lot three unpaid letters from the same correspondence, originating from Lyon to Athens, charged upon arrival either with 132 or 90 lepta franked, taxed with two-colour or four-colour Large Hermes Heads frankings, tied by ATHENS arrival cds's. The adhesive's margins are mostly touched but nevertheless most interesting frankings. Unusual ensemble.
