    Incoming from Austria 1862: Unpaid cover from Trieste to Calamata, endorsed "Col Vapore", struck by TRIEST despatch (July 19) cds, on arrival charged '75' lepta in red crayon and franked with 1861 Paris Printing 5 l. yellow-green and 40 l. mauve on blue in combination with 1861/62 First Athens printing 10 l. orange and 20 l. blue, a fine four-colour franking with fresh colour and good to large margins, all tied by '31' numeral of Kalmata, reverse with ATHENS transit cds. The Austrian debited the Greek postal administration "3 / 15" soldi in manuscript, for the local Trieste rate and the Lloyd' shipmail, respectively, the resulting 55 lepta plus the 20 lepta inland rate were charged to the receiver. Charged upon arrival with '90' lepta in red crayon, bearing 1862/67 Consecutive Athens printing 10 l. yellow-orange and 80 l. rose-carmine, vivid colours with overall fair to large margins, tied by ATHENS arrival cds (June 8) cds. File fold through the 10 lepta adhesive, also lightly touched at right, nevertheless an interesting cover from an extremely rare provenance for Greece, presumably unique. Cert.     Outgoing to Greek foreign post offices; 1862/67: Unpaid cover from Piraeus to Constantinople, struck by PIRAEUS despatch cds (March 31, 1864), charged upon arrival with 145 lepta in red crayon and franked with Consecutive Athens printing 5 l. green, 20 l. blue, 40 l. mauve and 80 l. rose-carmine, tied by "KONSTANTIN TORKIA" arrival (April 3) cds. The adhesives in fresh colours and with overall fair to large margins, filing folds well away from the appealing four-colour franking, an unusual combination to pay the Greek double rate of 40 lepta plus the shipmail rate fro a cover between 25-30 gram when traverlling with a French vessel. Hellas 17a+19a+20/Ia+22a.

    Outgoing to Russia 1861 (Nov 7): Partially prepaid entire letter from Patras to Taganrog, bearing 1861 Paris print 10 l. orange on blue and 40 l. mauve on blue, this with 'Open Cross' variety, fresh colours and large to huge margins, tied by '9' numeral of Patras with matching PATRAI despatch cds in black and Greek PED (Paid to Foreign Destination) in red alongside, ATHENS transit cds on reverse. Two file folds, one through the 40 lepta adhesive, nevertheless a very early franked entire in the second month of the Greek adhesives, obverse shows '30' (kopeks) due upon receipt for the part of the journey from Constantinople.     1861/1947:  Collection with 87 large Hermes Heads and about 80 small Hermes Heads, first Olympic set 1896 at least one complete set used plus various duplication also unused, including overprints. Second Olympic issue 1906 unused (some without gum) and used, later issues quite rich and varied with e.g. a picture postcard from VATHY (Samos) 1914 to Zürich, Centenary of the Liberation 1930 used and unused, Zeppelins 1933 unused etc. All housed in one album.

    Greek Naval Occupation of Dedeagatch 1913 (July 18/31g): The first provisional issue: album page with complete composite imperforate sheet of the italic issue showing one 5 l., four 10 l. and three 25 l. values printed in black, with red circular anchor Control markings, a used vertical strip of 25 l. value perf. 11½, with value altered to '20' lepta in pencil on each (dated July 23) and a cover with perf. 10 l. value on reverse mailed to Salonika (June 25) tied by Dedeagatch straight line handstamp in red.     Incoming from France 1867/1869:  Lot three unpaid letters from the same correspondence, originating from Lyon to Athens, charged upon arrival either with 132 or 90 lepta franked, taxed with two-colour or four-colour Large Hermes Heads frankings, tied by ATHENS arrival cds's. The adhesive's margins are mostly touched but nevertheless most interesting frankings. Unusual ensemble.
