    1918 (Sept 14): 'War Tax' on 1 d. scarlet, an unused block of sixteen (4 x 4), corner marginal from the lower left of the sheet, variety "Pair, One Without Overprint" on the two lower left corner horizontal pairs, the corner stamp (Row 10, stamp 1) also showing "War Tax" overprint inverted on reverse due to a still apparent marginal tear which folded back during printing. Fifth and fifteenth stamps, Row 8, stamp 1 and Row 10, stamp 3 show the "Tax Spaced" flaw, some splitting with hinges for protection but generally fresh and very fine, illustrated in "War Tax Stamps" by John G.M.
