    "The James Moore Correspondence" 1840: Three entire letters addressed to James Moore, 73 George Street, Edinburgh with October 31st, 1840 cover from Glasgow bearing the phenomenal franking of 1840 2 d. blue, plate 1, with three horizontal strips of three, lettered LA-LC, LD-LF and EJ-EL, margins just touched but mostly fine to large all round with EJ-EL crossed by file fold, all cancelled by Maltese Crosses in red, the franking of 1 s. 6 d. paying the rate for a letter of nine ounces; reverse with Glasgow cds (Oct 31) and Edinburgh arrival of the following day both in red. Sold together with Oct 23 1840 cover at quadruple rate from Greenock bearing 2 d. blue plate 1, two fine single examples lettered EK and HF, each tied by neat Maltese Cross in red and Nov 15 1840 entire at double rate franked by a pair of 1 d. intense black, plate 5, lettered SE-SF, just touched at left and tied by Maltese Crosses in red. A sensational new find.

    1840/1968: Collection in used and unused condition beginning with a 1d black Mulready envelope Form Number A132 used from PONTEFRACT (MY13 1840) to York, being a good early use, an 1840 2d blue, an 1841 1d red unused, a good margined cut close just at top 1848 embossed  10d brown, also 6d and 1/- normal margined copies. The 1883 'Lilac and Green' issue is complete unused and the 1891 £1 green is good used. The KEVII includes unused high values to 10/- and a used upper marginal £1 used. Sea Horses include the £1 green both unused and used as well as the Bradbury & Wilkinsonto 10/- unused. Later stamps include the £1 UPU and most other better values. There is also a small range of commonwealth issues such as Ionian Is, Some better British Occupational issues and many other good issues. The condition needs to be checked, but the collection contains many very fine stamps worthy of appreciation.

    1841 (March 13): 2 d. blue, plate 3, lettered TA-TK, the wonderful horizontal strip of eleven, corner marginal from lower left corner of the sheet showing Plate Number "3" and near full imprint at base "PRICE 2d. Per Label. 2/- Per Row of 12. £2...Per Sheet. Place the Labels ABOVE the Address and towards the RIGHT HAND SIDE of the Letter. In Wetting the Back be careful not to remove (the cement)". Some vertical creasing to be expected, stain in margin between TC and TD, six stamps exhibiting full margins and balance shaved at top, full unmounted original gum (a tear in the margin far outside design backed for protection by hinge). Davenport Hill". The book rebound with spine in gold tooled red Morocco. Of immense philatelic importance, exquisite and of great rarity so fine.rnNote: Florence Margaret Davenport Hill (1829-1919). Niece of Rowland Hill, she lived with her sister Rosamund. The two sisters  were both involved in prison reform, especially the treatment of juvenile delinquents and the children of the poor. Florence was also involved in the fight for women's suffrage.

    1840: 1 d. black, plate 11, lettered FG, large even margins all round, used on 1841 cover to Newport Pagnell endorsed "Stamped" tied by neat strike of the Maltese Cross in black. Reverse with London Lombard Street despatch (Feb 27). The cover without side flaps (although the position of the black wax seal on reverse suggests this could have been used as a wrapper) and pressed file fold well away from the superb adhesive, an oustanding and most attractive usage of the rarest plate on letter.     1867: Paris Exhibition Proof for the 2 d. value, an Imperforate horizontal strip of four from plate 9 (State II following the 1866 repair), lettered DI-DL with sheet margin at right, printed on soft white card paper, the first three Proofs with large margins all round, DL touched at base. A fine and extremely rare multiple Gi DP49 = £ 12'000+.rnProvenance: This strip adjoins the corner marginal block of nine (AJ-AL / CJ-CL) in the collection of His Majesty King Charles III. The Royal multiple first appeared in a Puttick & Simpson sale of October 1907.

    First UK Aerial Post London-Windsor 1911 (Sept.9): Envelope with full content written by Capt. J.W. Ruttledge (Sept. 16) sending an eyewitness report to his nephew in Limerick,: ".... Strange today it went by the first and only bag that left London for Windsor which contained almost only letter to the King and high officials. There were a lot ready to fly and take all the bags, only arnone fellow had the luck to start and he could take only one bag..... the other letters did not leave for two days."  Fine and scarce document.

    Airship 'R34' Transatlantic flight 1919 (July 2 - 13): 1 US-dollar banknote carried on board by Flight Lt. Durrant, inscribed and signed:" Carried by air from New York to London on R34, R.F. Durrant Lieut" with attached confirmation note, pictorial sheet with map and signed by 12 crew members as well as two original photos 'R34' at Pulham Norfolk, with handwritten annotations and signed by crewmember 'J. Reid' (July 1919). Only very few mail carried on board of 'R34', the hereby offered 1 Dollar bill of a crew member is probably unique.
