    1840: 1 d. black, plate 11, lettered FG, large even margins all round, used on 1841 cover to Newport Pagnell endorsed "Stamped" tied by neat strike of the Maltese Cross in black. Reverse with London Lombard Street despatch (Feb 27). The cover without side flaps (although the position of the black wax seal on reverse suggests this could have been used as a wrapper) and pressed file fold well away from the superb adhesive, an oustanding and most attractive usage of the rarest plate on letter. Certs. RPSL (1955), BPA (1996) Gi = £ 16'000.
