1851-52: Missionaries, Typeset 5 c. blue on pelure greyish paper, type I with 'P' located mid-way under 'H', a used adhesive with large even margins all round, heavily restored as can be seen in the majority of these delicate adhesives, cancelled by indistinct part strike of "HONOLULU / HAWAIIAN ISLANDS" datestamp in red, rarely seen on the stamp itself. An attractive example of this classical rarity. Cert. Hawaiian Philatelic Society (1979) Scott = $ 35'000.rnNote: In the most complete census of Missionaries, compiled in the auction catalogue of the Siegel sale 769, the first part of the Honolulu Advertiser collection, a total of 37 examples of the 5 c. blue are described. As the present item, 26 of them are defective or repaired, as can be expected for a stamp of 170 years on this extremely fragile pelure paper. The most frequently encountered cancellations are from the so-called cork killer group, while red circular date stamps are primarily seen on cover alongside the adhesive.

The collection contains thirteen BULLS-EYE stamps including five early impressions, and over 70 copies of the subsequent "INCLINADOS" issue, including the key value 600 R. The 1854 "COLORIDOS" come with seven copies of the 430 R including one large margin unused specimen. The 1866 perforated issues are also well represented. The 1866 "Emperor Pedro II" section contains four unused 500 R orange-yellow all no gum, the subsequent rouletted stamps are again strongly represented with eight 700 R reddish-brown and eighteen 1000 R grey.  Later issues are similarly strong, with more and more very attractive letters and covers, to name an example a 200 R lettercard from 1883 used as registered correspondence from MACEIO to CONSTANTINOPLE. Post 1900 the collector added more unused items, with onset of the 1930s airmail letters becomeing more prominent, imcluding six of Zeppelin return flights and some other airmail.
