    1862 (Dec. 20): Cover from Altona, Hamburg to Santos, Brazil endorsed "via Bordeaux pr. Steamer", with sender's cachet in blue and oval "Hamburg" datestamp (Dec. 21). Struck in transit with "T.T. 38" in black (Van der Linden fig. 2848) and thence via Erquelines and Paris where struck with "F / 21" Convention marking (Van der Linden fig. 1142) in black. "Correio Geral Da Corte" cds of receipt (16 Jan. 1863) on front in black and initially rated with framed "280" reis but deleted and struck with framed "430" reis handstamp both in red. A charming and rare cover.
