    Levante Emissioni generali 1874: Torino-like printing with ESTERO ovpt ., 40 c. rose-carmine in a lower marginal block of six showing plate number '132' in an rectangle on the selvedge (Numero di tavola), a superb fresh an fine multiple from positions 188-190 / 198-200 of the printing sheet of 200 examples in unused condition, with full unmounted og. A gem Sassone unlisted, the underlying Torino printing adhesive = € 23'000 for a used example, unlisted in unused condition.

    Italian Post in Tunis, Usage of Italian stamps 1868 (Nov 25): Double rate entire letter from Tunisi to Genova, bearing 1863 DLR 10 c. ochre-orange, 30 c. brown and 40 c. rose-carmine, three fresh and fine single adhesives, tied by light '235' numeral obliterator in black with "TUNISI POSTE ITALIANE" cds alongside. Reverse with Cagliari transit and GENOVA arrival (Nov 29) cds's. Light toning, nevertheless a rare and appealing three-colour franking to pay twice 40 c. to Italy. Signed A. Diena, Chiavarello; cert.     Italian Post in Tunis, Usage of Italian stamps 1872 (Jan 31): Triple rate envelope from Tunisi to the consul of the Bey of Tunis in Geneva, Switzerland, bearing 1866 Torino printing 30 c. 'bruno castano' in a horizontal strip of four, tied by light '235' numeral obliterator in black, "TUNISI POSTE ITALIANE" cds and "P.D." handstamp in black alongside. Reverse with Cagliari transit and Swiss ambulant (Feb 4) cds's. A fine and fresh cover, the franking paying correctly three times the 40 c. letter rate to Switzerland, a rare destination from Tunis.     Italian Post in Tunis, Usage of Italian stamps 1877 (Dec 5): Entire letter written in Hebrew from Tunisi to Firenze, bearing 1866 Torino printing 30 c. brown, tied by framed "PIROSCAFI POLTALI ITALIANI" in black, "TUNISI POSTE ITALIANE" cds with inverted month slug and "coi Postali Italiani" handstamp, both in black as well as "P.D." handstamp in blue alongside. Reverse with Cagliari transit cds's and FIRENZE arrival (Dec 8) cd's. Vertical file fold just mentioned for accuracy, an extremely late and exceptional usage of this Italian adhesive, as they were replaced by the ESTERO-ovpt. adhesives already at the beginning of 1874. Presumably the latest usage of an Italian stamp in Tunesia.     Italian Post in Tunis, Levante Emissioni generali 1879 June 11): Envelope from Tunisi to Bedigliora, Ticino, bearing ESTERO ovpt. 1874 Torino-like printing 5 c. greyish green and 1878 20 orange, tied by light barred '235' numeral obliterator in black with fair "TUNISI POSTE ITALIANE" cds and "coi Postali Italiani" handstamp alongside. Reverse with Cagliari, Lugano and Curio transit (June 16) cds's. One backflap missing, some toning at right, nevertheless an astonishing cover from North Africa to a small hamlet in Ticino.

    Italian Post in Tunis, Levante Emissioni generali 1881 (Nov 9): Registered envelope from Tunisi to Livorno, bearing a 'Two King' mixed franking of 1878/79 Vittorio Emanuele with ESTERO ovpt 10 c. blue in a horizontal pair and 1881/83 Umberto 50 c. violet, tied by light barred '235' numeral obliterator in black. Front struck in addition by clear "TUNISI POSTE ITALIANE" cds, "coi Postali Italiani" and framed RACCOMANDATO handstamps, reverse with Livorno arrival (Nov 12) cds.     Italian Post in Tunis, Levante Emissioni generali 1887 (March 19): Envelope from Tunisi to Napoli, bearing 1874 Torino-like printing with ESTERO ovpt 1 c. green-olive (two blocks of ten) on front and reverse, tied by light barred '235' numeral obliterator in black. Front struck by light "TUNISI POSTE ITALIANE" cds, reverse with indistinct Napoli arrival cds. The cover opened up for presentation reasons on three sides, stabilized with scotch, which is visible from the front, nevertheless a most exceptional way to pay the 20 c. rate to Italy.     Italian Post in Alexandria - Egypt, Usage of Sardinian stamps 1863 (March 27): Cover from Alexandria to Palermo, endorsed "p. Vapore Francese", bearing Sardinia 1855/63 10 c. bistre (4) and 40 c. rose-carmine, five fine and fresh examples with bright colours, large margins all round, tied on the steamer by framed "PIROSCAFI POSTALI FRANCESI" in blue, another superb information strike alongside. Reverse struck with "ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO / POSTE ITALIANE 27 MAR. 63" cds in blue, Messina transit (March 31) and Palermo arrival (April 2) cds's. An amazing cover from the first month of the Italian post office in Alexandria, most attractively presenting the 1862 80 centesimi rate from Alexandria to Italy using a French vessel. Signed A. Reverse with ANCONA transit (Oct 13), ambulant, and Austrian-style straight-line "Isola della Scala" transit (Oct 15) cds's. An appealing cover. Cert. E.     Italian Post in Alexandria - Egypt, Usage of Italian stamps 1867 (Dec 10): Lettersheet from Cairo via Alexandria to Genova, bearing Egypt Penasson 1 pi. dull rose-red (Gi 14), tied by "V.R. POSTE EGIZIANE / CAIRO" cds with information strike alongside. Upon arrival in Alexandria, a transit cds of the Egyptian P.O. was struck on the reverse and the cover was forwarded to the Italian P.O., there an Italian definitive Torino printing 40 c. lilac was added to the front which was tied by indistinct '234' numeral obliterator in black, "ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO / POSTE ITALIANE 11 DIC 69" cds at left. Reverse with Brindisi transit and Genova (Dec 16) arrival cds's. Vertical and horizontal file folds, tear at top, still an interesting combination franking of Egyptian and Italian definitives, where each stamp was necessary to pay the journey from Cairo to Alexandria and from Alexandria onwards, respectively.     Italian Post in Tripoli de Barberia, Levante Emissioni generali 1878 (April 20): Lettersheet from  Tripoli di Barberia to Genova, bearing 1874 Torino-like printing with ESTERO ovpt 30 c. brown, a fine and fresh single adhesive, tied by mute 'Annulo a rombi' obliterator in black, "TRIPOLI DI BARBERIA POSTE ITALne" despatch cds and "P.D." alongside. Reverse with Siracusa transit and arrival cds (April 27). File folds well away from the franking and minor toning, nevertheless an attractive cover from a rare office, signed E. Diena.rnNote: Black cancellations are more rare than those in blue.
