Lot# : 6652 Italian Post abroad
Italian Post in Tunis, Usage of Italian stamps 1877 (Dec 5): Entire letter written in Hebrew from Tunisi to Firenze, bearing 1866 Torino printing 30 c. brown, tied by framed "PIROSCAFI POLTALI ITALIANI" in black, "TUNISI POSTE ITALIANE" cds with inverted month slug and "coi Postali Italiani" handstamp, both in black as well as "P.D." handstamp in blue alongside. Reverse with Cagliari transit cds's and FIRENZE arrival (Dec 8) cd's. Vertical file fold just mentioned for accuracy, an extremely late and exceptional usage of this Italian adhesive, as they were replaced by the ESTERO-ovpt. adhesives already at the beginning of 1874. Presumably the latest usage of an Italian stamp in Tunesia. Signed Sorani.rnReference: Displayed and discussed in Zanaria, Serra & dal Negro - Catalogo strorico-postale dei francobolli in uso negli uffici postali italiani all'estero 1852-1890, on page 20.Starting bid : 200 CHFHammer price : 200 CHF
