    1859: Fine impression 2 r. red, just touched to large margins all round in a rich shade, used on 1860 entire letter to Paris tied by "CORREOS / CARACAS" datestamp (Oct 22) in black paying the internal letter rate. Mailed via London with (Nov 16) where framed "GB /1F 60c." charge marking applied in black, Calais transit  cds and charged there with '8' décimes handstamp in black. A fine and rare entire. Cert.     1862: 5 c. green, 1867 laureated 80 c. carmine and 1870 Bordeaux 10 c. bistre, small imperfections, all used on 1872 cover from Valencia to Bordeaux endorsed under the adhesives "voie d'Angleterre", tied by Anchor lozenges in black. However, carried on French Packet "Nouveau Monde" from La Guayra with octagonal "VENEZUELA / PAQ. FR. A No. 3" in black (Oct 11). Underpaid 5 centimes for the 1 fr. 20 c. rate and struck with framed AFFRANCHISEMENT / INSUFFISANT in black. Charged '25 c.' handstruck due upon arrival. Cleaned and with imperfections but a rare three issue combination usage.

    1863/64: Eagle 2 r. green, an unusually superb large margined example, used on 1865 cover from La Guaira to Bordeaux, endorsed "p. Creole" (a non Contract Steamer, 'bâtiments de commerce') tied by fine "CORREOS / LA GUAIRA" handstamp in blue. Struck below adhesive with circular entry marking "OUTRE-MER / PAUILLAC" in red (May 10) and manuscript '12' décimes to pay. Bordeaux arrival cds on reverse. One side flap missing but a very rare and attractive cover. Cert. Peter Holcombe (1990).

    1875: Contrasena ½ r. rose, an attractive example with large to just shaved margins all round, used on 1876 cover from Caracas to Paris endorsed "voie St. Nazaire", tied by oval CORREOS / CARACAS / DE VENEZUELA" handstamp in black. Octagonal "LA GUAYRA" Consular datestamp (Jan 5, 1876) in black below (Salles fig. 1374). Reverse with octagonal "VENEZUELA / PAQ. FR. A No.2" datestamp (Salles fig. 1420) and carried on the "Ville de Bordeaux". Struck with triangular 'T' marking and charged '12' décimes due on arrival - the tariff introduced on 1 January 1876. Scare and attractive cover.

    1876/77: Contrasena ½ r. bright rose, a used example with ample to large margins all round and showing portion of adjoining stamp at left, on 1877 entire letter from La Guaira to Bordeaux tied by "CORREOS / LA GUAIRA" handstamp in black. Carried on French Packet "Lafayette" with octagonal "VENEZUELA / PAQ. FRA. A No. 2" in red (Salles fig. 1420). Struck with triangular "T" marking on arrival (March 28) and charged at double rate with handstruck "24" décime due mark in black. Rare and fine. Opinion Holcombe (1990). Cert.     La Guaira 1864: Lithographed by Waterlow 2 r. green, perf. 13, two examples (one marginal from top of sheet), used on 1865 cover and crossed by file fold, from La Guayra to Paris, tied by "CORREOS / LA GUAIRA" despatch in black. Mailed from St. Thomas on the RMSP "Tasmanian" with London transit cds on reverse (Jan 14) and struck there with "GB / 1F 60 c." accountancy marking in black. Calais transit cds and charged with handstruck '16' décimes in black for double rate. Side flaps missing but a very scarce double rate cover and not unattractive.

    La Guaira 1864/67: Lithographed by Rasco 2 r. yellow-green, zig-zag roulette 9-9½, a fine example but crossed by file fold, used on September 1865 cover from Caracas to Bordeaux, endorsed "via San Tomas", tied by blurred oval Caracas despatch in black. London transit cds on reverse and struck there with "GB / 1F 60 c." accountancy marking in black. Calais transit above (Oct 14) and charged with handstruck '8' décimes in black for single rate. Small inclusion at top away from the adhesive, a scarce cover. Opinion Holcombe (1988).

PAKETBOOT oval datestamps, taxed on arrival with 1893 Postage Due 50 c. violet, 1895 underpaid cover from Valencia with Venezuela 25 b. magenta taxed on arrival with 1893 Postage Due 50 c. violet and stampless 1895 stampless cover from Maracaibo taxed on despatch mailed via Curacao taxed on arrival with 1893 Postage Due 50 c. violet. Fair to fine, an interesting selection.
