    1875: Contrasena ½ r. rose, an attractive example with large to just shaved margins all round, used on 1876 cover from Caracas to Paris endorsed "voie St. Nazaire", tied by oval CORREOS / CARACAS / DE VENEZUELA" handstamp in black. Octagonal "LA GUAYRA" Consular datestamp (Jan 5, 1876) in black below (Salles fig. 1374). Reverse with octagonal "VENEZUELA / PAQ. FR. A No.2" datestamp (Salles fig. 1420) and carried on the "Ville de Bordeaux". Struck with triangular 'T' marking and charged '12' décimes due on arrival - the tariff introduced on 1 January 1876. Scare and attractive cover.
