    South Line 1811 (April 30): Entire letter written at Goa, Portuguese India to Lisbon, Portugal endorsed "Pello Navio Europa", the entire travelled via Cape Town and thence across the Atlantic to Rio de Janeiro, where delivered to the Brazilian Post Office and struck with superb "Rº. DEJANRº" struck in red-brown. Thence carried via the Portuguese South Line to Lisbon where charged '80' reis due in manuscript and on to Lixa. Internal docketing of receipt (Oct 15). Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 30. A splendid entire in wonderful quality considering the journey - the earliest recorded cover from India to South America.rnrnrn

Carried on the RMSP "Reindeer" to Barbados, thence by the "Tay" to Southampton. Struck with framed "Colonies / &c. Art. 13" in red and mss. "2/-" in London (Feb 24) and thence via Boulogne to Bordeaux where charged '20' décimes due.

    RMSP 1842 (Feb 25): Entire letter from Brechin to Demerara, British Guiana endorsed "prepaid" and franked with 1841 1 d. red-brown, lettered EB, touched to ample margins, tied by Maltese Cross in black with manuscript "P 11d." for remaining portion of the rate. Framed "Brechin" despatch datestamp (Feb 25) in black and 'Paid' transit (Feb 26) in red. Internal docketing of receipt (March 30). Carried on RMSP "Trent" who handed over the Demerara Mails in Tobago to "HMS Gleaner", arriving March 29. The letter states how disappointed the writer was with the December reports of the Sugar Crop. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 160.     RMSP 1850 (May 31): Cover from Birmingham to Amsterdam Estate, Leguan, Demerara, British Guiana endorsed "By West India Mail Packet", franked by 1841 2 d. blue, plate 3, horizontal strip of six, lettered SA-SF, clear to large margins all round and of outstanding fresh colour, tied by "75" numeral obliterators in black. Reverse with Birmingham despatch cds in blue (May 31) and London transit cds in red (June 1). Carried on the RMSP Steamer "Tay" to Bermuda (June 18), thence on the "Medway" to St. Thomas (June 22) and "Eagle" to Demerara arriving on June 30. The sole recorded strip of six 1841 2d. blue used to South America in private hands. Cert. B.     RMSP & PSNC 1857 (Aug 22): Pacific route cover from Sydney, New South Wales to Edinburgh, endorsed "P. Gannymede via Callao" franked by 1854/59 6 d. greyish-brown (2) imperforate, margins touched to fine, tied by mute obliterators in black. The cover travelled to Callao where forwarded on PSNC Steamer to Panama, thence via the RMSP "Dee" from Colon to St. Thomas and "La Plata" to Southampton. Reverse with Sydney datestamp, London transit (Nov 14), Edinburgh and Prestonpans cds (Nov 16) where charged "1/-" due to pay. Adhesives originally folded over the side of the envelope and opened for better display; a rare routing across the Pacific via Callao, annotated at left "Received (via Callao) on 16th Nov in 86 days".
