RMSP 1856: Cover from Port of Spain to Hamburg endorsed "Pr. R.M. Str. P.P." (Post Paid), franked by 1853 (1 d.) brownish-red on blued paper, clear to large margins all round, tied by "1" numeral obliterator in black. Manuscript "1/2" prepaid with corresponding "♚ / PAID / AT / TRINIDAD" in red at left. Reverse with TRINIDAD double arc cds (Aug 25) in black and Hamburg arrival (Sept 17). Carried on RMSP "Derwent" to St. Thomas and thence per "Atrato" to Southampton, with London transit in red (Sept 15) on obverse.
