    RMSP 1842 (Feb 25): Entire letter from Brechin to Demerara, British Guiana endorsed "prepaid" and franked with 1841 1 d. red-brown, lettered EB, touched to ample margins, tied by Maltese Cross in black with manuscript "P 11d." for remaining portion of the rate. Framed "Brechin" despatch datestamp (Feb 25) in black and 'Paid' transit (Feb 26) in red. Internal docketing of receipt (March 30). Carried on RMSP "Trent" who handed over the Demerara Mails in Tobago to "HMS Gleaner", arriving March 29. The letter states how disappointed the writer was with the December reports of the Sugar Crop. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 160. A magnificent entire, the earliest recorded stamped cover to South America bearing an adhesive Postage Stamp. Cert. B. Moorhouse (2016).rnProvenance: D.
