    'Seafarer Atlantic Record Flight' 1933 (July 22/23): Envelope fom Dublin franked with six adhesives King George V 1 d., all remained uncancelled, with Irish Airpost label, endorsed 'Per Atlantic Air Mail, The Seafarer' London to New York, addressed to Quebec, Canada, carried on the flight from Pendine Sands, Wales to New York, by Amy Johnson and her husband Jim Mollison, on July 23 the plane 'Seafarer' was forced to land in a swamp near Bridgeport, Connecticut, after running low on fuel, signed by both pilots. Some wear, horizontal fold and water stains on the back, just a scarce Crash cover and the only known from Ireland. Nierinck 330723.

    'Seafarer Atlantic Record Flight' 1933 (July 22/23): Stampless legal size envelope carried on the flight from Pendine Sands, Wales to New York, by Amy Johnson and her husband Jim Mollison, on July 23 the plane 'Seafarer' was forced to land in a swamp near Bridgeport, Connecticut, after running low on fuel, signed by both pilots with type-written note on reverse: "This letter was recovered from the marsh at Bridgeport .....crashed in the 'Seafarer' July 23rd.1933 after successfully crossing the North Atlantic from Wales, New York City July 27th 1933".     1907 (12 Oct.): Mammoth Balloon Flight Daily Graphic Newspaper "A Message from Mid-Air" sponsored postcard from Crystal Palace addressed to Kilkenny Ireland, sent unfranked with framed 'T' and British '2d/I.S.B' handstamped postage due applied in London.rnThe "Mammoth" ascended with three men on board: J.L. Tanner (owner), A.E. Caudron (a balloonist) and C. Turner of the Daily Graphic. The balloon reached Sweden on 14 October. The aeronauts mistook the Swedish Lake Vännern for the open Atlantic and crash-landed near the village of Bracken. The aeronauts left the balloon which broke up and finally came to land at Tösse with cards scattered over a large area.

    B.O.A.C. de Havilland DH 106 Second 'Comet' 1 G-ALYP Crash into the Mediterranian Sea near Elba Island, Italy 1954 (Jan. 10): Two envelopes to Ireland showing two line handstamp 'DAMAGED BY SEAWATER / COMET MAIL' in red, including 'On Governement Service' envelope from Kuala Lumpur (Jan. 7th) and 'Credit Statement' of 'The Chartered Bank' in Sibu / Sarawak with "London F.S. (Foreign Section) JA ..6. 54" transit cancel on reverse. The cover is believed to be the only known to have survived from the Sarawak mail.     Crash of Loganair Flight (LC670A) Shorts 360 G-BNMT ditching into the Firth of Forth Estuary 2001 (Feb. 27): Envelope of Dundee Central Library with 27p. meter-mark of "Dundee 26.02.01" and business envelope of Edinburgh City Library (20.02.01), together with British Mail Customer Service Manager appologize letter "I am very sorry that the enclosed letter has been damaged during transit...." dated 'March 2001'. Loganair Flight 670A (LC670A) was a scheduled cargo flight for the Royal Mail from Edinburgh-Turnhouse Airport, Scotland to Belfast International Airport. On 27 February 2001 the Short 360 operating the flight ditched in the Firth of Forth off Edinburgh at around 17:30 local time; the two crewmembers' bodies were found in the wreckage a few hours after the crash.
