    1860: Lettersheet from Homburg, Palatinate to Sarreguemines in Lorraine bearing Napoléon imperf. 20 c. blue Type II, a fresh example with good to enormous marginsm with parts of the right neighbouring stamp, tied by clear 'FP' lozenge of the Forbach - Paris railway line, framed HOMBOURG handstamp and "FORBACH A PARIS 2 JUIN 62" cds alongside, reverse with arrival cds of the next day. A most interesting cover written in Homburg  in the bavarian-ruled Palatinate, brought presumably by courrier to Forbach in Lorraine and despatched at the ambulant of the Forbach - Paris railway line, sent further to its destination.

VALENCIENNES 27 FEVR. 61" entry cds and framed "P.D.", both in red alongside. Reverse with Paris transit and Marseille arrival cds's (Feb. 28). Horizontal file fold well away from adhesives, an unusual but accepted pre-payment with French adhesives in Hamburg, the 60 c. rate reflecting the correct postage from France to Thurn & Taxis in 1861.     Late fee mailing to the French Levant 1862: Cover from Paris to Constantinople, bearing Napoléon perf. 10 c. bistre, 20 c. blue and 80 c. rose, fine adhesive with fresh colour, tied by 'Gros Points' mute obliterator. Octagonal "PARIS (60) 3e / 8 JUIL. 64" despatch cds in black and framed "P.D." in red alongside. Reverse with arrival cds of the French P.O. in Constantinople (July 16). A most attractive and interesting three-colour franking of outmost rarity as letters of the third exceptional collection 'levée exceptionelle' are nearly unknown, especially if sent to the Levant. For each 15 min after the final date of collection a fee of 20 c. had to be paid in addition to the normal postage, in this case three times 20 c. plus the normal 1862 Levant rate of 50 c., in total 110 c.

Opened on three sides for presentation purposes, a very early advertisement envelope which was combined with a reduced postage to achieve a higher distribution, the stamp was perforated to avoid its theft.
