    1851 (archive dated): Large part cover from Ballenar to Santiago endorsed 'por vapor' at left, struck with BALLENAR and FRANCA handstamps in rose red, struck again with FRANCA, CABOTAJE and VALPARAISO in red straight line handstamps. The cover was originally '1+2 = 3' reales (1 r. for Ship's Captain and 2 r. for Post Office) the rate had just been lowered and these handstamps were deleted by the FRANCA. Then rated '1½' reales and this was altered to '1' real in manuscript, this sum also being deleted due to the recognition of the addressee: Antonio Varas - the Minister of the Interior.
