Inclinados 1844/46: 90 r. black on greyish paper, Types II-I-II-I in adjoining vertical rows (RHM 7+7A), a used block of sixteen (4 x 4), close to ample margins all round, cancelled by eight complete strikes of framed "NITHEROY" handstamp (Ayres fig. 1370) in black. Two closed tears and scissor cut not affecting the frontal appearance, illustrated and discussed in "Inclinados" by Walter Taveira on page 230, being the third largest used block showing the two types. An extremely rare multiple, pairs being the second largest unused multiples recorded with just three such illustrated in "Inclinados" by Walter G. Carried North by RMSP steamer "Severn", with Lisbon cds (Nov 8) and framed "P.BRIT" handstamps in blue, charged "180+40 = 220" reis to pay upon arrival with the three handstamps in shades of blue or blue-green.
