'ardesia violaceo', four fine and fresh single examples with good to huge margins, all tied by light 'sbarre' mute obliterator, the two leftmost stamps in addition by a framed three-line handstamp, single circle "MODENA 2 NOVEM. 59" despatch cds and framed RACCOMANDATA alongside, on entire registered letter to Vignola. Reverse with Alès, Albi, Toulouse, Gaillac transit cds's as well as Castelnau-de-Montmiral cursive two-line arrival handstamp. Upon arrival taxed with '11' décimes in manuscript. Horizontal filing fold well away from the adhesives, not distracting from this exceptional item sent via Sardinia prior to the first French-Tuscan postal treaty. Cert.     1849/1934: Group beginning with a prephilatelic letter from CASTELBUONO 1849, rare cancel ITIRI on 20 c. Sardegna (signed Bolaffi and Diena, Sassone R2), there are three stamps from Toscana off paper and a 40 c. 'Provisional Gouvernement' on folded letter sheet addressed to Giuseppe Cappellini, Hotel Baur, Zurich. Several pages with Italian Colonies unused, San Marino, Vatican City and Fiume mostly mounted. Further a few Albania including Italian Occupation (these mostly never hinged), Liubliana, Montenegro including rare 2 Lire 1942 with stain spots, but signed A. Diena.

    1818/1950: Interesting accumulation beginning with some pre-philatelic covers; from Sardegna an excellent 20 c. 1853 issue on cover from NIZZA (certificate Roumet), a 5 c. printed matter 1857 localy letter from Nizza (signed Raybaudi). Stationery, picture postcards and covers with an 'insured' letter 1919 for 10'000 Lit franked with 2x 5 Lit (+ others), including censored items 'Regno' and a few 'Repubblica' period etc. Further three decrees, one of which about introducing of Cavallini imprints on letter-sheets and showing the examples of the two sets of three different imprints each, one printed in dark green, the other set embossed print only. The pages are a bit creased at the bottom. Another decree about reorganization of the postal system (some tolerable foxing), a third one 'LETTRES-PATENTES'. These three documents are printed in French language, the two first have been printed in 'Turin' (Torino), the latter in Chambéry. To this added a list of the post offices of Sardinia from 1851 in Italian language.

    1945/54: Collection in an album, unused and used stamps, presented upon specialised printed pages for AMG-FTT Venezia Giulia and Trieste, comprising complete sets with a few varieties, includes Zone A, noted 1952 Trieste 20 l. lilac with 'AMG-FTT' (Sass. 7), also 1947/48 parcel post (Pacchi Postali) set of twelve including high values (Sass. 1-12) and the Segnatasse 1954 25 l. red-brown with longer overprint (shorter central bar), unused in a top marginal (Sass. 34), all three with certificates.     Italian post offices in Egypt 1871 (Oct 7): Cover from Alexandria to Paris, bearing Italian definitive issue 1863 DLR printing 10 c. orange-ochre in a horizontal pair, a fresh multiple, tied by light '234' numeral obliterator with matching "ALESSANDRIA D'EGGITO / POSTE ITALIANE" despatch cds and framed "FRANCOBOLLO INSUFFICIENTE" handstamp, both in black as well as French Lanslebourg entry cds in blue alongside. Reverse with "TORINO SUCCURSALE No 1" transit (Oct 11) cds. Taxed with manuscript '10' décimes upon arrival. Minor perforation irregularities not distracting from the attractiveness and rarity of this exceptional cover sent from the Italian P.O. in Alexandria to France. Cert. Colla (2021) Zanaria = € 6'000.rnNote: Mail with Italian services to France via the Italian homeland is extremely rare as there was an effective French service from Alexandria to Marseille. The Italian service to France gained some importance during and after the Franco-Prussian War when French shipmail services were reduced.     Italian Post Offices in China, 1917/18: Collection of the issues for the offices in Peking (Scott ex 12/28, J1/4) and Tientsin (Scott ex 5/23a, J1/8), in total 61 diff. adhesives in nearly exclusively unused (46) or unmounted og. (13) condition on four album pages. Some complete sets with 1917/18 overprints and 1918/19 surcharged issue, also postage due incl. the unissued surcharges with the face value obliterated by lines.
